Where does the music come from?
Your Apple Music library (you need an Apple Music subscription and to allow access), or your own audio files. Open the Library, choose the source from the menu at the top, and for your own files tap the add button to pick them from Files.
Some of my own songs have an orange dot and don't play.
The free version plays 25 of your own songs. The rest are listed and play with Cassette Studio. Apple Music is never limited.
What is Cassette Studio?
One payment, no subscription. It unlocks every tape, colour, doodle, board and screen, lets you keep your own drawings and halftone photo prints on the tape, and plays all of your own songs. It's yours for life on every iPhone and iPad signed in with your Apple account.
I bought Cassette Studio and it isn't unlocked.
Open Settings > Cassette Studio and tap "Restore purchase" at the bottom. Make sure you're signed in with the Apple account you bought it with.
How do I ask for a refund?
Apple handles refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I turn the tape over on iPad?
Press and hold the tape.
How do I draw on the tape?
Customise > Print > Draw. Use your finger or Apple Pencil. "Halftone" prints a photo on the tape.
The iPad app doesn't rotate to portrait.
On iPad, Cassette Player runs in landscape only.
